Billy Rose Biography
Billy Rose came to Nevada in 1974, using his bluegrass and country
roots to achieve success with a variety of artists including; Waddie
Mitchell, Tex Hill, John Mitchum, Bill McCallie and Harold Kimberly,
to name a few. Billy is a singer/songwriter who has developed his
own unique style of acoustic sound steeped in Nevada vaquero
tradition, although he seldom strays from his southern roots. He has
an extraordinary ability to make the West come alive through his
music and styling. His acoustic persona can be heard on his solo CD,
''Nevada Rose'', as well as ''DesertBreeze II” (a musical group which he was a
founding member of), which was reviewed by Toe Tapin' Tommy Tucker
of KRLC radio out of Idaho, and was given “5 big toes'', a high
honor from Tommy. Billy is a host at The Duncan Little Creek Gallery
every year during the Elko Poetry Gathering as well as being a
long-time veteran of the Gathering. He is also a regular feature of
several guest ranches around the Elko area.
Billy is an active member of the Cowboy Poets of Idaho and The
Western Music Association (WMA), and was nominated for
''Instrumentalist of the Year'' through the WMA Awards in 2007, and
then again in 2008. He is a regular attendee at various WMA
Gatherings across the western United States.
